The most addictive drug on the planet!

Updated: Jun 26

No, I am not talking about coffee or women! I'm talking about that cellphone. Take a close look. She is a slave to that phone. Walk around anywhere, coffee shops, the mall, schools, work office, restaurants, choose a place. You will see this scene everywhere. I'm not going to lie, I am on that thing more than I should. But even I have a limit. A lot of the work I do involves a phone. I believe this is turning into the new normal. We don't even talk in person anymore. When was the last time you visited a friend just to talk in person? Cellphones have made it too easy to communicate with people. You want to talk to someone, then just give them a ring, or text, hell you can video chat as well. Now I know I'm coming off as negative about cellphones, but I will also admit that they have been a blessing as well. Your husband is out of state on business and you miss him so you can video chat and talk face to face. Businesses can communicate around the world. A cellphone is a form of communication on multiple levels (Voice, Text, Email, Video, Photo). But also, it's many other things as well such as a camera, calculator, calendar, credit card, bank, music radio, TV, etc... The list goes on and on. The invention of smartphones itself is genius! Sadly, I think it's one of our downfalls as well.

We don't even talk to each other anymore. We just pick up our phones and hop on social media and scroll until our food arrives. But then we eat and watch a video on YouTube. How did we get so addicted to our cellphones? How is everything else going on in the world more entertaining or more important than ours? So we spend all of our free time looking at fake or prefabricated content. It's sad because you don't have to be real anymore. You can be fake as f@#k and post the most inaccurate information. It doesn't matter as long as it's entertaining, gets views, and likes. Monetization at its finest. It's more beneficial to be entertaining than to tell the truth. Make more money being fake than being yourself. That's what we are watching: fake shit! Fake people, fake lives, and fake ass results! I don't give a f@#k what anyone says, most of these so-called influencers are just selling lies. They are on steroids, have had plastic surgeries, are scam artists, and feed off of attention. We need to wake up. If your life sucks, then only you can change it. No one on social media will. I don't give a shit what guarantee they have!

Cellphones are probably taking away from your lives as well. On average, we spend 4.5 hours a day on our phones. Now, depending on your job, it may be more. On average, we spend 2.5 hours on social media. I'm sure that number is a lot higher with the younger generations. If we take my teenage daughter's cellphone away, she goes through withdrawals. It's like a crackhead in rehab. She has the shakes, headaches, depression, anxiety, then drives the whole household crazy! Sometimes it's a blessing. If we need to distract our toddler, then Ms. Rachel is going on YouTube. She is like a virtual babysitter. We need to learn how to unplug and enjoy what the real world has to offer. My family and I love to go on trips to locations that have historic value. Some cities are very rich in history such as New Orleans, Savanah, San Antonio, Washington DC, etc... We like to visit museums and historic sites. I love guided tour. This is my way of force me and the family to unplug and get off our phone. Also we hit the beaches and springs. Anything outdoors will do.

We, as people, need to do something about this. This is why civilization is the way it is. Our kids watch dumbasses be idiots online doing illegal stuff. Next thing you know, your kids are doing the same stupid things and wonder why they are in jail. They are eating tide pods and snorting condoms. Emergency room, here we go! We believe what these fake-ass influencers say instead of learning the truth for ourselves. Google is one of the greatest tools we have on our phones and it's sadly underused. We'd rather just ask strangers who don't know a damn thing. We are messed up! We are all addicted. And there is no cure in sight!

Sadly, unless something major happens… society will continue down this path until its inevitable destruction. We are the makers of our own circumstances. Fun fact cellphones were designed with intent to be addictive like tobacco, alcohol or any drug that incites the addictive qualities within our brain chemistry.
